Five teenagers are safe Monday morning after getting stuck in the Sandias while hiking. Search and rescue got the call around 6 p.m. Sunday that the teens couldn’t make it down the mountain.
We are told a 15-year-old fell from a ledge and broke a leg. That hiker had to be airlifted out and taken to the hospital. The four others were escorted down by search and rescue – and eventually made it down around 1:30 a.m. Monday.
It's still not clear how much this search and rescue cost or if the teen’s parents will be responsible for the bill. That's something we'll be working to find out today.
